The B-52s and DEVO Unite for “Cosmic De-Evolution Tour” in Fall 2025

The B 52s And Devo Announce Special Co Headlining Performances

Two legendary New Wave titans — The B-52s and DEVO — are joining forces for a once-in-a-lifetime co-headlining tour across North America. Dubbed the “Cosmic De-Evolution Tour,” this 11-date run will mark a celebratory farewell from both groups as they continue to wrap up their decades-spanning careers with style, satire, and infectious rhythm.

Kicking off September 24 in Toronto, the tour will feature special guest Lene Lovich and wrap on November 2 in Houston, TX. It marks the first time the two bands have ever embarked on a full tour together — and likely the last.

🌟 A Long-Awaited Collaboration Between Two Icons

“We said we wouldn’t tour anymore—unless it was special,” said Fred Schneider of The B-52s. “And this is special. DEVO and The B-52s on one stage? That’s a no-brainer!”

“This is wild,” added Kate Pierson. “From Athens to NYC, to partying at the Mudd Club with DEVO—our vibes have always aligned. Now we finally get to tour together.”

DEVO frontman Mark Mothersbaugh chimed in: “It was either fate or cosmic luck that brought us together. All I can say is: Cosmic De-Evolution is REAL!

The last time both bands shared the stage was at SNL’s 50th Anniversary Concert at Radio City Music Hall — a performance that sparked the idea for this long-overdue co-headlining run.

👑 About The B-52s

Formed in Athens, Georgia, in 1976, The B-52s brought color, camp, and charisma to the New Wave explosion. With timeless hits like “Rock Lobster,” “Love Shack,” and “Roam,” the band sold over 20 million albums, influenced generations of artists, and defined a uniquely American brand of alt-pop.

Now led by the original core — Fred Schneider, Kate Pierson, and Cindy Wilson — The B-52s are completing their extended farewell, which includes a Las Vegas residency, a documentary, and an upcoming official band book.

👽 About DEVO

Hailing from Akron, Ohio, and formed in 1973, DEVO’s pioneering mix of punk, electronics, and performance art launched them into cult superstardom. Their dystopian philosophy of “De-Evolution” became a cultural meme, and tracks like “Whip It” and “Uncontrollable Urge” became staples of early MTV.

Still led by Mark Mothersbaugh, Gerald Casale, and Bob Mothersbaugh, DEVO recently extended their 50 Years of De-Evolution Farewell Tour and will debut their Netflix Original documentary in August 2025.

🧠 Why This Tour Matters

  • Historic first full tour shared by two foundational New Wave bands
  • Farewell performances from both The B-52s and DEVO
  • Opening act by avant-garde legend Lene Lovich

“Put on your wig hats and DEVO bonnets and get ready to party!”Kate Pierson
